Bio
A steel
drum (pan) player with over 20 years of experience based in the Los
Angeles area, Wendy is a solid professional and is experienced in a wide
variety of musical styles and situations. She is well known throughout
Southern California as a soloist as well as a partnered owner of Pan-A-Cea
Band (see https://steeldrumband.net),
performing in a wide variety of venues and band sizes.
Being a flexible and sensitive player she fits into a wide array of
playing venues and situations to accommodate a variety of musical tastes
and environments. Her repertoire of contemporary, top-40, rock and roll,
country rock, pop, soul, latin, reggae, soca, calypso, and ska has built
a solid base of live working engagements throughout the Southern
California area. She has performed for TV shows, politicians and stars
such as Bob Hope, James Garner, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Governor
Gray Davis, Quincy Jones, Shaquille O'Neal as well as CNN’s “Showbiz
Today”, Los Angeles Channel 7 News, and several movies. Top Caribbean
bands and artists she has worked with include Jr. Crawford, “Crazy”,
Vince Charles (Neil Diamond), Robert Greenidge (Jimmy Buffett), The
Islanders and the Trinidad Steel
Drum Band. Recording projects include Vince Charles “Caribbean
Christmas”, as well at “Steel Pan Voyage” and “Pan-A-Cea” which were
recorded at Kleen Kut Studios.
Working as a soloist Wendy has developed a smooth enjoyable playing
style which has made her a favorite with the local restaurant and hotel
industries. Historically she has maintained long term engagements of up
to five years with hotel and restaurant chains which include DoubleTree
Hotels, Hyatt Hotels, Hilton Hotels, Marriott Hotels, Westin Hotels,
LaQuinta Resort, BevMo and Tommy Bahama’s, etc. Band performances
are quite varied and include Harrah's Hotel Laughlin, “First Nite”
Concerts, Los Angeles, Orange County and Long Beach Convention Centers,
Slim Pig'Ns, The Staples Center, Los Angeles Sports Arena, Disney
Studios, Sea World San Diego, “The Taste of” Pasadena, Tustin and Orange
Counties concerts, Long Beach Caribbean Carnival and various California
county fairs. Corporate engagements include Xerox Corporation, BMW
Corporation, Trader Joe’s, Nordstrom’s, Bank of America, Enterprise Car
Rental, Wells Fargo Bank, Disney Studios, to name a few. Other
performances include university concerts, yacht club events, night
clubs, museums and various private events.
